Ahhhhhhhh....I'm sitting in our enclosed back porch. A cool breeze coming in - the first in weeks. I watched the sun fill the corners of the yard. I wish I could just bottle some of these moments and pull them out to pour over my head when the angst at work gets to be too much.
I've been experimenting with glass this week. I have microscope slides and vintage chadelier prisms. I sandwiched colored pencil drawings between the slides and finished the edges with copper tape. Also tried Delco perm-enamal to paint on the slides. some of the results are interesting, but don't seem to be "enough" by themselves. They all want to be a part of something else. Maybe I should consided doing a triptic or something. I have also considered doing a single vertical line hanging scuplture with them - like a string of a wind chime. On the prism I was trying to use a frost enamel to make an etched look on the flat facet. Using an exacto knife I cut a template into masking tape and then placed the tape on the prism and applied light coats of the frost enamel. When it dried I removed the tape - and the enamel came off with it! Oh well.
I did the bones for a little diarama. I cut and combined some photos and it's pretty cool. I think I will now take those same pictures into photo shop and recreate what I did with cut and paste - that whay there are no funny cut lines, it will just look like it was photographed that way. Then with the photoshop images I'll create the final diarama.
I also have an idea, based on a thought from the diarama, for a scupture. I'm going to try to flesh it out with sculpy.
Before I can do that, however, I've got to go into work for an appointment, (even though it's Saturday). I also need to finish up a project I'm doing for my dad for his 50th class reunion. We've gathered pictures from their senior year and from the reunions since. I'm missing 1962 and 1992 - but there's nothing I can do about that. I scanned all the pictures and am creating a "scrapbook" for each of the 18 remaining classmates. Since I do advertising at my job, it has a kind of magazine quality - but I think that's okay. He wanted to give them all something special for this big reunion.
