I feel like I've been in a whirlwind since the beginning of Sept.
Work is very busy. I can't believe how cheap property is selling these days. I closed on a tri-plex on Thursday for 7,000! I should close in 2 weeks on a big old house with 3 beds and 2 baths for only 14,500. It's insane. Hubby doesn't want to be a landlord, or we would pull equity out of our house and take advantage of the market.
The Zeta Bags Luncheon (note we changed "old" to "Zeta" after discovering the other name was trademarked), went well. We made over 6,000 and will be able to give the Fayette County Cancer Society a check for 5,000 after all the bills are paid. The women of the community were elated at such a nice affair. They definatly want us to do it again. There are so many events in the Sept/ Oct. time I think we should move the date to earlier in the year.
I stopped by "Archway Artisians" on Thursday. Lots of nice handmade stuff. I wouldn't call all of it "art" but most of it was at least interesting. I talked to the lady at the counter and may give them a call about selling some things there. I noticed that there were lots of oil and acrylic artists represented - but no water color. Also, I think my light-up diaramas would sell. I'm planning to pull out of the Antique Mall at the end of November. Too much work for not enough reward. Perhaps I'll give the artisians a try. I still play with the idea of an Etsy store....but I think it would be awfully easy to get lost among the thousands of sellers on Etsy.
I went to a Joyce Meyer women's conference with my boss and her daughters. The crowds were horrendous. About mid-way through I kept thinking how nice it was to listen to Joyce teach when I was on my comfy couch, in my jammies, all alone. The music and other teachers at the conference were combined to make it all worth it in the end. The lighting designer was excellent. I tried to catch him/her during one of the breaks, just to say,"good job" - but couldn't find anyone in the booth.
Holiday Bazaar time in the midwest is upon us. I have to supply crafts, baked goods and time to the one at my church and for my sorority. I've got ideas and supplies for the art/craft part. Now if I could just find time! LOL!
Gotta run. Open houses today and then taking some stuff to the antique mall (there's an antique fair there today).
